We have been fans of Jim Hall's Chaparrals since our teens. (The 2E / 2G are at the top of our favorite race cars of all time list.) The Petroleum Museum in Midland, Texas added a whole new wing to house Hall's creations and thus preserve them for all time. The gallery opened in April of 2004 and we were there to photograph both the gallery and the Chaparral Cars compound. We watched Jim fire up the 2F model and, escorted by Texas State Police, drive it out of the compound to deliver it in person to the gallery. For us, this weekend was akin to realizing the dream of arriving in heaven! Hey, almost everything was a heavenly white anyway! :)
